About The PDF Unlock

PDF Unlock removes password protection from a PDF when you know the current password and creates a new unlocked copy. It is intended for files you own or are authorized to process, such as archived statements, internal documents, or protected files you need to merge or edit later.

The unlock operation runs locally in your browser. It does not recover or crack unknown passwords, and it leaves the selected PDF unchanged.

How to Unlock a PDF Online

  1. Choose the protected PDF file.
  2. Enter the current password for that PDF.
  3. Unlock the PDF and wait for the output summary.
  4. Download the unlocked copy and confirm that it opens as expected.

Choosing Options Correctly

Current password:
Use the password that already opens the PDF. If the password is wrong or missing, the browser cannot decrypt the file.

Output copy:
Use the downloaded copy for later merge, rotate, compress, print, or archive workflows. Keep the original protected file if you still need the restricted version.

Common Use Cases

  • Creating an unlocked working copy of a password-protected PDF you are allowed to modify.
  • Preparing a PDF for merging, rotating, compressing, printing, or archiving.
  • Checking whether a protected file can be opened with the password you have.
