Privacy Policy

Last updated: May 23, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how io-tools.com ("IO Tools", "we", "our") handles information when you use the website, submit feedback, or use tools that include stored or shareable features.

1. Local-first tool processing

Many IO Tools utilities are designed to process input in your browser. For those tools, the normal formatting, counting, converting, previewing, or testing operation happens locally on your device and does not require sending the tool input to our server.

Some features cannot work entirely in the browser. For example, feedback delivery, security checks, abuse prevention, and intentionally shareable or stored outputs may involve server-side processing.

2. Information we collect or process

  • Feedback details: subject, message, and any name or email address you choose to provide.
  • Technical request data: IP address, user agent, timestamps, URLs requested, error details, and similar server log information used for reliability and security.
  • Stored or shareable content: if a feature creates a saved result or shareable link, the submitted content may be stored so that feature can work.
  • Anti-abuse signals: CAPTCHA or other protection checks may process technical interaction data to reduce spam and malicious traffic.
  • Browser preferences: settings such as theme choice or interface state may be saved in your browser using cookies or local storage.

3. How information is used

  • To operate the website and provide the feature you requested.
  • To deliver feedback messages and respond when contact information is provided.
  • To prevent spam, abuse, scraping, attacks, and service disruption.
  • To diagnose bugs, monitor performance, and improve tool quality.
  • To maintain legal, security, and operational records where necessary.

4. What not to paste into tools

Even when a tool is designed to run locally, you should avoid pasting production secrets, private keys, passwords, live tokens, confidential customer data, or regulated personal data into general-purpose web tools unless you have reviewed the tool behavior and are allowed to do so.

5. Cookies and local storage

IO Tools may use cookies or browser storage for essential site behavior, security, theme preferences, form/session continuity, and anti-abuse controls. These are not intended for intrusive behavioral profiling.

6. Third-party services

We may use service providers for hosting, network delivery, email delivery, analytics or diagnostics, and anti-abuse verification. These providers may process limited technical data needed to provide their services.

7. Retention

Retention depends on the feature. Browser-local tool inputs are not intentionally stored by us as part of normal local processing. Server logs, security records, feedback submissions, and stored/shareable content may be kept for as long as needed for operation, troubleshooting, abuse prevention, legal compliance, or user-requested functionality.

8. Your choices

  • You can use many tools without providing contact details.
  • You can avoid shareable or stored features if you do not want content saved for later access.
  • You can clear local browser storage through your browser settings.
  • You can contact us through the Feedback page about information you submitted directly.

9. Children's privacy

IO Tools is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

10. Policy updates

We may update this policy when features, security practices, or service providers change. The "Last updated" date above reflects the latest revision.
